Chronic Intermittent Diarrhea

  1. BEGIN with Purina Fortiflora.
It's inexpensive and won't hurt the cat. As a "probiotic" it's goal is to restore the natural intestinal balance.

  2. Deworm: This can be done even if microscopic fecal examination says there are no worms.
It doesn't harm the cat and might work.

  3. Bacteria: Campylobacter is everywhere and easily knocked down with antibiotics.

  4. Giardia: This is a protozoan which is also everywhere. (15% of humans carry it.)
A variety of medicines are used attempting to control this. No magic bullet here, though.

  5. Dietary trial: try hypoallergenic food for a couple of weeks then slowly switch back to regular while treating with Fortiflora.
