Too Many Dogs and Cats |

The Need
Each day 10,000 humans are born in the U.S. - and each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born! As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the animals. As a result, millions of healthy, loving cats, dogs, kittens and puppies face early deaths as a form of animal control. An unspayed female cat, her mate and all of their offspring producing 2 litters per year, with a 2.8 surviving kittens per litter can total: 1 year 12 - 2 yrs 67 - 5 years 11,801 - 7 years 370,092 - 9 years 11,606,077. Please do the responsible thing and spay or neuter your animal. MFOA offers free and discounted spay/neuter programs. MFOA is joining with local veterinarians to address a serious problem that plagues the nation and our community. Millions of precious dogs and cats are euthanized each year for lack of loving homes. Nationally, last year alone, seven million animals were euthanized. Statistics reported by Maumelle Animal Services indicate that animals were euthanized each month in our very own community! You can play a part in reducing these alarming statistics by having your pet spayed or neutered. If your pet is not sterilized and you need financial assistance for this essential procedure we invite you to participate in our program. | |
